A part of the stunning 4-star luxury St. Ermin’s Hotel in Westminster , the Caxton grill truly does shine on its own as one of the finest restaurants (and indeed bars) in the St James’s Park/Westminster Area.
Well known for its locally sourced produce, the restaurant unofficially specialises in steaks cooked on their Josper Grill, which is only one of a handful in the entire of the UK known to impart a rich, smoky flavour to the meat (I for one can vouch for the excellence of the final product and would certainly recommend splashing out on the fillet cut!)
Hus Vedat, Head chef at the Caxton Grill has a career that has seen exposure to some of the finest restaurants in Europe including Heston Blumenthal’s Fat Duck, Hus’s philosophy features sourcing ingredients from local areas which results in the menu featuring meats from the farms of highly regarded local butcher ‘The Ginger Pig’. In Addition to the locally sourced meats, the restaurant also sources honey from the St. Ermin’s hotel roof which is host to 3 hives of well-tempered Buckfast bees.
Outside of the dining experience at Caxton is also their fantastic bar which is fantastic for a pre-dinner aperitif or post dinner cocktails – I’d recommend their signature cocktail, the ‘St. Ermin’s’ which has an excellent profile of sloe gin, citron vodka and parfait amour which gives it the signature St. Ermin’s colouring.
Additionally, if you’re somewhat of a connoisseur, or just fancy an education the Caxton Bar also serves up wine and whiskey flights which consist of three glasses of either wine or whisky designed to complement each other and to give the sampler a chance to discover new flavours or enjoy old favourites.
